Ron Carter's debut album Where? is a landmark collaboration featuring Eric Dolphy and Mal Waldron, originally released in 1961. The session was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, on June 20, 1961, pairing Dolphy's inventive reeds with Waldron's piano against Carter's bass in intimate, exploratory performances. This Original Jazz Classics Series reissue, issued March 29, 2024, presents the album on 180-gram vinyl cut from the original tapes with all-analog mastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Tracks include Rally, Bass Duet, Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise, Where?, Yes, Indeed, and Saucer Eyes, making it an essential addition for fans of early 60s jazz and the distinctive voices of Dolphy, Waldron, and Carter.
