Unoriginal Artists captures Doug Martsch of Built To Spill leading a one-off Boise collaboration with Ned Evett, John Mullin, and Ian Waters in a loose, live-in-the-studio session. Recorded in 2003 at The Manhouse in Boise, the group tackles a handful of covers including David Bowie's Ashes to Ashes and The Pretenders' Back on the Chain Gang, with Evett's glass-necked fretless guitar coloring the sound. The record was originally issued on CD via Up Records and was reissued on vinyl in 2021, bringing this rare collaboration to a new generation of listeners. This release showcases Martsch's melodic bass and guitar interplay alongside Evett's virtuosic playing in an intimate, improvisation-driven set.
