The Priest of Love: A Life of D. H. Lawrence

“I shall always be a priest of love,” D. H. Lawrence said in a letter written on Christmas Day, 1912, soon after he had completed his first major novel, Sons and Lovers. That statement gives the present book its title. In earlier incarnations, beginning in 1954, this biography of Lawrence was called The Intelligent Heart. “The Priest of Love” is a revised edition, incorporating important new material, of The Intelligent Heart which was first published in 1954.

Binding of book is loose. Darkened back cover with some shelfwear and creasing on both covers of book. Heavy tanning and some foxing on edges of book. Stamp and heavy foxing on insides of covers. Moderate foxing and creasing on certain pages. Plates remain intact. Several waterstains on certain plates.
