Superhero thrills with a sharp conspiracy edge

If you like Marvel stories that feel more tense and grounded, this is a great pick. It takes Captain America out of simple good-versus-evil territory and drops him into a paranoid political thriller full of secrets, betrayal, and momentum. Readers who enjoy fast action but also want a darker, more suspenseful side of the Marvel universe will find this especially satisfying.

Description

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C., and trying to adjust to the modern world. When a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague is attacked, Rogers becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens global security. Teaming up with Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, Rogers fights to expose a widening conspiracy while fending off assailants determined to silence him. As the plot unfolds, Rogers and Black Widow enlist a new ally, the Falcon. They soon confront an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
