“Making America: The Society and Culture of the United States” is a Forum Series publication of the United States Information Agency, Division for the Study of the United States. Edited by Luther S. Luedtke, Associate Professor of English, University of Southern California, the volume contains twenty-three original essays by major American scholars, as well as an introductory essay by Professor Luedtke. The book covers virtually every aspect of American life and culture – ethnicity, urbanization, the arts, philosophy, religion, politics, law, and popular culture. In delving into the past, the authors seek not only to reexamine the foundations of American life but also to bring a fresh perspective to contemporary issues.

Binding of book is loose and exposed in the middle of the book. Moderate shelfwear and creasing on covers of book. Slight tanning and foxing on edges of book. Some creasing on insides of covers. Some creasing and very little foxing on certain pages, otherwise in good condition. Plates remain intact.
