Philosophical romanticism reached its apogee in the thought of Hegel, in which the authentically philosophical character of the romantic movement was vindicated and its limitations overcome. Unfortunately, the speculative insights of this great philosopher have suffered from misrepresentation at the hands of both professed followers and would-be critics.
