The Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayaam

“The Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayaam” is known throughout the English-speaking world almost entirely through the medium of Edward Fitzgerald's mid 19th century translation. Robert Graves, an English poet, and Omar Ali-Shah, a Sufi poet and classical Persian scholar, collaborated to produce this new translation of the Rubaiyyat which presents the philosophy of Omar Khayaam in a very different light. The result is an important literary event which throws a surprising new light on much that has hitherto been taken for granted. For purposes of comparison this edition also contains the Edward Fitzgerald translation as an appendix.
