The American Pragmatists

What is pragmatism? In common usage the word indicates the testing of the validity of concepts by their practical results. More generally, the term refers to one of the most notable contributions made by Americans to intellectual history. American pragmatism has influenced almost every department of thought, including metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics, religion, jurisprudence, and social thought in general. In this book, the application of pragmatism is illustrated in different branches of thought.
