Description
Hong Kong has survived an extraordinary number of crises since its foundation as a British colony and imperial outpost in 1841. “Hong Kong: Stability and Change” takes as its main theme the nature of Anglo-Chinese relations within the colony from its foundation to the period just prior to the Japanese invasion in 1941. The various topics, which range from cadets to the European working class, from the nature of the Chinese community to the hierarchies of the European population, are related together in a long introduction.
