Refuge is a meditative ambient collaboration from Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson, created during the 2020 lockdown as a comforting haven from a troubled world. The duo weave ethereal piano and subtle electronics with contributions from Mary Lattimore on harp, building expansive soundscapes of stillness and renewal. The project reflects decades of friendship and shared musical sensibilities, drawing on Windham Hill-era new age and Harold Budd-inspired atmospherics while maintaining intimate warmth. Released August 13, 2021 on Dead Oceans, Refuge offers a quiet, immersive listening experience grounded in empathy and mindfulness.
