Purgatory is Tyler Childers' second studio album, released August 4, 2017, through Hickman Holler Records and Thirty Tigers; it was recorded at the Butcher Shoppe in Nashville and produced by Sturgill Simpson and David R. Ferguson. The collection blends Appalachian storytelling with a rugged, roots-inflected country sound that helped establish Childers as a distinctive voice in modern Americana. Ten tracks, including I Swear (To God) and Feathered Indians, showcase Childers's vivid storytelling and craft.
