Blues For A Reason is the 1984 Criss Cross Jazz session that marks trumpeter Chet Baker and tenor saxophonist Warne Marsh’s only recorded collaboration, captured in Monster, The Netherlands on September 30, 1984. The quintet also features Hod O’Brien on piano, Cecil McBee on bass, and Eddie Gladden on drums, delivering a program that includes Well Spoken, If You Could See Me Now, We Know It’s Love and Blues For A Reason. In 2023, Elemental Music issued a Criss Cross CC1010LP vinyl edition that presents the complete album with one bonus track, Looking Good Tonight Take 2. This release stands as a celebrated late‑career pairing, praised for its clear interplay and inventive approach within the cool jazz lineage.
